How to Get Your First Price
Getting your first price out of Art Price Lab takes a few minutes.
Here is what you enter:
- The height and width of your piece, in inches (or centimeters, if you switch to metric in Settings)
- Your medium
- What you spent on materials for that piece (an estimate is fine)
- How long the piece took
Art Price Lab pulls wage data based on your location and suggests an hourly rate. Use it or set your own. The calculator shows you three prices, one from each method, and the range they define.
Your first run will feel rough. That is normal. The goal is not to get a perfect number on your first try. It is to get a number that is grounded in your actual costs and your market, and then refine from there as you run more pieces through.
Most artists are through setup in under ten minutes. The FAQ covers the most common first-run questions.
